What books have most influenced your life? ‘Creative Visualization’ Shakti Gwain; ‘Seth Speaks’ Jane Roberts; ‘Illusions’ Richard Bach; ‘The Ancient FutureTrilogy’ Traci Harding; ‘Firebrand’ Marion Zimmer Bradley, ‘A Return to Love’ Marianne Williamson ; ‘Care of the Soul’, ‘Soul Mates’ Thomas Moore; ‘The Outlander Series’ Diana Gabaldon.
Have you ever considered anyone as a mentor? I’d love a mentor, but I’ve just never had anyone who wanted that role.
Who is your favourite author and why? JR Ward, at the moment, because her ‘Black Dagger Brotherhood’ takes me places I would never normally go, and makes me love every minute of it. To me, that’s the mark of a truly great writer, no matter the genre. She’s gritty and very explicit in her description of sex and violence, but the power of love in her stories is amazing. In the last book she made very graphic gay male sex the most truly powerful and moving read of my life. If I could do what she does, I’d be a very content writer.
Can we expect any more books from you in the future? Absolutely. I can’t seem to turn the tap off, now I’ve turned it on.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I’d like to be making enough money from writing so I can do it full time.
Are you reading any interesting books at the moment? I’ve just finished JR Ward’s latest. The greatest way to chill after a day of writing my own stories is to read someone else’s. They get to do all the hard work while I just get to enjoy!
Are there any new authors that have sparked your interest and why? Indie publishing has been wonderful for me as a writer, but also me as a reader. I’ve found literally hundreds of writers who I enjoy from that source. Some are very young, and they’re cutting their teeth on this new process, but I see big things for them in the future.
Do you have any advice for writers? Learn your craft and then just let your Muse have her freedom. With the market as it is today, you’ll find your audience, even if it’s only one reader – because, ultimately, a writer only needs one reader who ‘gets’ them to feel heard.
Do you have any specific last thoughts that you want to say to your readers? Step outside your comfort zone of reading material. If you like a writer, follow her/him wherever they choose to go. There’s a wide world to explore vicariously through someone else’s eyes. Use it to broaden your life experience. You can live many lifetimes if you learn to live part of your life in books.
What do you do to unwind and relax? Watch movies and good TV. And read, of course!
What dreams have been realized as a result of your writing? Finding an audience who love the worlds I create. Some dreams are worth waiting for!
If you could leave your readers with one bit of wisdom, what would you want it to be? Open yourself up to love, in whatever form it presents to you. It can transform your life.
When you wish to end your career, stop writing, and look back on your life, what thoughts would you like to have? That I made a difference.
